Bitmap and Vectors

Hello fellow internet users.

Here is the Prezi that I made explaining the formats of Bitmap and Vectors.

Pre- production techniques

Hey fellow internet users.

Pre-production techniques

Film and TV production are very similar as they both cover the different sectors of finance, time, personnel, facilities, materials, contributors, location and code of practice and regulations. Within financial you will need to make sure that you have a producer so that you know that the product that you are selling is funded. The job roles within film and television are director, editor, cinematography, writer, floor manager, set designer, researcher, costume designer, location manager and actors/ actresses. The location manger will have to read the script of the production to see what location fits the description. The will have to run risk assessments to make sure that the actors are not in danger, for example if they were filming in the woods they will have to make sure that there is nothing in the way on the floor so that people will not trip over. Genre with both film and television researcher will have to go out to see what the audience will find most entertaining so that they will have many viewings. This is why you see many programmes and films that look very similar as that is what the audience is most interested in at the time. Contributes are very important when filming as both film and TV will need extras when creating a production, the contributors will save funding as they might be only paying the extras minimum amount of money for the hours that they will be working or sometimes they will not pay the extras what so ever if the contributor was found walking down the street whilst they were filming. Time management is very important when filming a production as if the company that you are using are paying for only so many months for the set that you are filming on then you need to make sure that everyone is in the right place at the right time so that your time and money is not wasted.

Non-broadcast video is also very similar to film and TV as when creating a non-broadcasting video you will need a director, editor, location manager, cinematography, contributors, actors/ actresses, writer, producer, researcher and set designer. The finance within non-broadcasting video you will get your sponsors from Youtube by the subscribers that you will have. Once you have a certain amount of subscribers Youtube would start giving you money for the videos that you will put onto their website. Time management within in this type of media production is used so that you can hit your deadlines as if you are a non-broadcaster you might not own all of your own equipment and might have to hire cameras and lighting or the editing software, as you will not have enough money. Location is still very important when creating a non-broadcasting video as might need to hire a stage for a certain amount of time or even find a set that fits what your video is about.

There are many things that make up radio and audio such as music, sound beds, recording studios, audience, DJ's, artists, market research, finance, time management, news, genre, copyright, adverts and presenter. The location within radio and audio is very important as you will need a quiet room so that there is no interference's in the sounds, for example if a presenter was interviewing someone you will need a quiet recording studio as if you was interviewing someone on the street it would be really hard to hear someones response which will create confusion for the radios listeners. Time management is also very important when creating a radio, audio production as you will need to hit deadlines for example the sound booth that you are using might be hired and there might be another customer right after your set time. Market research within radio, audio is used to see what the audience is interested in at the moment for example the genre of music that is in the top charts, or even the kind of DJ that everyone is listening to at the moment so that they could make their radio DJ just as good even better. You will need a set target audience when producing a radio, audio for example BBC one's audience is aged 15-29, you would also have to also research the different stereotypes for this age range to find out what type of advert would be put in between each showing also to see whether to using hard or soft news.

Within the print industry there are many tight deadlines involved as there are a large amount of contributors when creating for example a magazine such as OK, the job roles within this are journalist,  writer, developer, editor, reporter, senior and junior advertiser, producer, researcher and publishing admin. time and finance take's a big part in print as for example the researcher isn't able to gather all of the facts and statistics on time this will create the writer and the developer not being able to take the next step in motion causes them to move the deadline to a later date having the magazine being deadlined much late causes them a loss of money. The location which will take part in the print industry would be an office if you are working for a company. There are many freelancers all around the UK which will work at home and send there stories to magazine or newspaper companies for a chosen price. The codes of practice which will take place would be professionalism, as a journalist would have to be very professional when interviewing people wether they are experts, witnesses or having a relent. This mean that the journalist will have to use skills such as objectivity and subjectivity depending on the audience that the story is aiming towards. Also they will have to fill out release forms for copy right if they are using another organisations work for example if they have used a photograph that they have used from the internet, they will have to write where they have gathered their sources from.

When using interactive media it is used to gather information about a chosen subject, for example this could be about a celebrity. Within the interactive media there are many social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter, these websites are used to interact with friends and family, it could also be used for sharing video's and photographs that you have taken or that you have found from the internet. The codes of practice within interactive media could be copy right , for example if you have taken a picture from Google Images and placed that picture of Facebook for all your friends to see, this could causes some legal disagreements, and could also be taken off some social networking sites if they are too graphic.

Evaluation Movie poster

Hello fellow internet users.

When creating the movie poster I first researched in the different methods and designs of movie poster in the past. I analysed three different movie posters such as She's the man, The conjuring and Mr & Mrs Smith. Within my research I looked at the different kind of categories for example the one that my main focus was on was Horror, which had brought me to my final project idea of creating a Stalker horror movie poster. I chosen this as my finished product idea because of the different ways I was able portray a stalker horror story, for example I portrayed the horror movie poster as if the victim is running away from someone in a certain location such as an abandoned shed, this caused the audience to feel worried and scared for the victim wanted to know whether the victim surveys or not . There are many different types of categories in making a movie poster, when researching I analysed three different formats which were comedy, thriller and action this gave me a wide idea on what format I should use when creating my movie poster.

My finished product is a stalker horror movie poster. I have named my poster You can't run but you kan hide. In the proposal I explained my ideas for the poster and the reason of the working title. In the proposal I shown a sketch of the movie poster that I was going to make on Photo shop. In my sketch it shows a shed being the main focus of my poster as in my final piece I have used a picture of the character Kate running as my main focus that I had taken in front of the green screen. I also used a picture that I selected from Google images of an abandoned shed as the background of my poster, I used this as my background on the movie poster because it causes the audience to have a spooky feeling towards the film causing the audience to be curious of the chosen location wanting to know whether the main charter that is shown is running away from the shed or towards the victim.

The thing's that I felt went well whilst creating the movie poster would be the way how the title of the movie post is placed. The movie title face is shaped into a unique way as if the letters have been stuck onto a ripped piece of paper and has been used before as the paper is yellow, this gives the paper an old looking effect. The letters of in the title are all different sizes and shapes as some of the letters are very point and sharp looking this gives the audience the impression that there will be lot's of knifes and shape objects being used within the movie. I've gave the title a crazy looking effect as the main character is a psycho and insane.

The thing's that I felt went bad when creating the movie poster would be the main focus point as the character in the movie poster looks as if the are insane and as if she is running towards the audience, this could give the audience the impression that this character is the villain in the movie. As this character was suppose to give the impression that she was in pain and is running away from that villain who is inside the abandoned shed.

The difference's and the similarities that my movie poster has from a similar category is The conjuring movie poster are that in the movie poster The conjuring their main focus in their movie poster is a pot doll in an old woman's arms, this is similar to my movie poster as I have used my main character running towards the audience, this give the audience terrified feeling. The scenery in this movie poster bold and dark as in my movie poster I have used a slightly bright picture of an abandoned shed, this give of a pro acing feeling than in The conjuring poster.

Evaluation Magazine cover

Hello fellow internet users.

When creating my final product the Magazine cover I first started researching and analysing previous film magazine covers such as Empire and Total film. I looked at the similarities and the differences of these different magazine covers. I also analysed where the main focus of the magazine cover is, the main title of the magazine cover and the text for example on the Empire magazine cover it tells the audience that there is a "Massive preview special" and then in smaller writing underneath shows "45 new movies you need to know about right now"  this gives the audience a preview of what you will be reading about inside the magazine.

My final product is a film magazine cover, I have named my final piece Cinimer. When I first starting designing my magazine cover on Photoshop I had problems with the text on my background. The way how I had solved my problem was by making my text much bolder and used the special effect Shadow drop so that you way able to read the writing without it contracting with the background picture.

When creating the magazine cover I feel that best features of this magazine cover would be how I have placed the main focus point as I have lighten up his face and his body but darkened the side of his face to give the audience the impression that this character is not a friendly person and he was a dark side towards him that not everyone can see.

The thing's that I feel went bad when creating the magazine cover would be the text on the cover. The black text behind the bold red strip can be slightly difficult to read if the person that is reading it is slightly far away, for example if someone is going into the shop to buy something and pass the magazine aisle they might not realise that the magazine tells the audience that the stories that are inside this magazine has an exclusive story about the new film You can't run but you kan hide.

If I was to re create this magian cover again I would change the colour's of the title face and change the positioning of the text so that the text isn't so close to the edge, as when the magazine cover is printed the text might become but of the page making it impossible for the audience to read. I would do this by chaining the size of the font so that it doesn't cover the face of the main focus point.

The differences and similarities that my magazine cover has to other magazine covers for example Total film is that I have used the same style as Total film by making my main focus in the centre of my page. Also when designing my cover I used the same technique of having the name of my main focus beneath my character in the center with the ad World exclusive above inside a dark red box. The differences that my magazine cover has to Total film is that with the main title of the cover I have put it in front of my main focus as with the magazine Total film they have put their main title behind their main focus.

Evaluation DVD sleeve

Hey fellow internet users.

When creating my DVD sleeve I looked at the purpose, content, reception and the audience of other DVD sleeves. Every DVD sleeve has three faces that is the front cover, the back cover and the spine of the sleeve. When researching about DVD sleeves I analysed Harry Potter, This is the end and Angus thongs and perfect snogging DVD sleeves. When researching different DVD sleeves I mostly looked at Harry Potter as this format of DVD sleeve was very similar to mine as both films have action. When creating my DVD sleeve I looked at the aspects of creating a similar look towards the Harry Potter sleeve, for example the Harry Potter sleeve uses a narrative background on the back face of the character Voldormort, this character is the villain of the film as I have used the Character Kate as the character is vulnerable trying to fight her way from the villain in You can Run but you kant hide as the DVD sleeve is looking towards a older age range of 15+.

My final product is a stalker horror DVD sleeve. Before making my final piece I wrote a proposal on what I wanted my product to look like. In my proposal I explained that my main focus for my DVD sleeve would be an abandoned shed which will be highlighted from the rest if the sleeve, this is very similar as what I have created is an abandon shed as my back ground which is a lot lighter than anything else in the background as everything else is much darker and gritty looking, I have used this techniques because I want the audience feel as if they are being pulled into the shed. I have made the character much darker than everything else in the DVD sleeve because it gives off the impression that he is dangerous and that there is a dark soul inside him waiting to give out an attack to the vulnerable. My main focus on my DVD sleeve is different to the focus on my movie poster as I have used the main character Ben where as in the movie poster I used Kate as the main focus. This is because I wanted the audience to feel as if Kate is the villain in the film as this character looks as if she is running towards the audience, this creates more of a twist and surprise when the audience watches the film.

The thing's that I felt went well when creating the DVD sleeve would be who I lightened up the abandoned shed behind the villain to show the audience that this is the location where the story is happening. This gives more of an impact on how creepy and how much the main character is actually a psycho.

The things that I felt went bad when creating the DVD sleeve would be the type face on the spine of the sleeve. The reason why I feel like this part of the DVD sleeve isn't as good as other parts of the sleeve is because it is really hard to read what it is saying, as the colours blend in with the background. I also needed to change the colour of the word 'But' as if I kept this word the same colour as the other words, the audience would be able to see the word creating confusion.

If I was to improve the DVD sleeve I would to lighten up the whole of the cover and use the different colours as this DVD sleeve is very dark and glum and makes it hard for the audience to read the text that has been put on the sleeve to help the audience know what the film is about and the different features used within the film.

The differences and similarities that my DVD sleeve has towards the DVD sleeve Harry Potter have are that the similarity between You can't run but you kan hide and Harry Potter is that in the back face Harry Potter has a narrative back drop for their back ground of Voldermort fighting with his wand out. As on my back face I have a narrative back drop of the character Kate lying down in the floor injured. The difference between my DVD sleeve and the Harry Porter DVD sleeve is that in the Harry Potter sleeve they have uses scene picture from the film where is on my sleeve my content does not include scene pictures and has a small description about the film.

Magazine cover

Hello fellow internet users.

When creating my magazine cover I used Photoshop. Before I created my magazine cover I needed to find out the measurements for a magazine cover which was 20.88 cm in width and 29.7cm in length.

The first thing thing that I did when making my magazine cover was edit my main focus point. When doing this I used the main picture that I had used in my DVD sleeve. When editing my main picture I used the Magic wand tool to remove the background so that I twas clear to put onto a blank page. once I had scaled my picture to the right size, I then when onto Image, Adjustments then went onto Brightness/ Contrast so that the picture would have more of a dark shine to it. I used colour balance to that I could make the colour of my picture more blue/red.

Once I finished editing my main focus for my magazine cover I then edited the title of my magazine cover. By doing this I used the text tool and used the font Lucida Bright and for the letter C I used the font Future. Then I went onto special effects to give the text a shadow drop.

Once I edited the title of my magazine cover I then worked on the extra bits of text that I needed for my cover, this is so the audience will know what kind of magazine it is and what you will be able to read inside the magazine. For this I used the font Lucida Grande. I then used Special effects to give the text a shadow drop so that the text did not become lost within the background.

The final thing that I did when creating my magazine cover was adding a bar code from the corner of the cover. When doing this I needed to scale the bar code to size so that it didn't look too big on my cover. I also taken a picture from Google of the film Home front. Once I scaled the picture to size I then used the paint brush tool and painted the bottom of the picture red so that the american flag become more bold.

Analysis magazine covers

Hello fellow internet users.

In my blog I am going to be analysing two different magazine covers.

For my first magazine cover I have chosen Empire. In this type of magazine cover you can see that the main focus is in the centre right of the page. It shows a picture of the character Harry Potter with cuts and bruises on his face, this shows the audience that in the next Harry Potter film Harry Potter will be fighting to his death once again.

The main title of this magazine cover is in large red bold writing the type face looks as if it is mirroring the empire state building itself.

In the bottom, left corner you can see I picture of the Wolverine which looks like a scene from the film. On the other corner there is a barcode. This shows you that the reception of this magazine cover is found in supermarkets.

There is text on either side of the main picture telling the audience about the different films that you could read about in the magazine. It also highlights and stars the main film, it also shows you what page you can find the film on. This gives the impact that this film is the magazines best feature and that this magazine will be showing more about Harry Potter than another film.

For my second magazine cover I have chosen Total film This type of magazine cover it is similar to the Empire magazine as the main focus on this magazine is the character Sherlock Holmes. I large writing it shows you the name of the main film that it is showing on this cover. It also shows you in smaller writing underneath the film title a tagline for the movie.

At the very top of the magazine cover it tells you that there are the 10 coolest movies that are being made right now. in the magazine cover Empire it also tells you that they have a massive preview special for the 14 new movie that you need to know about. These two magazine covers are very similar as they have all the same features apart from the title of the magazine cover.

The main title for this magazine cover is in bold capital letters that is placed behind the main picture, where as on the Empire cover the title is placed over the main picture.

This magazine cover have text on either side of its main picture which tells you about the extra, sneaky and the basters that you are able to find when looking inside this magazine.
